Undergraduate Academics
Plagiarism
The University of Michigan takes very seriously the act of plagiarism. In order to be fully informed on what constitutes plagiarism please refer to the following resources.
- The Library's handout, which several departments have used for their statement on the subject. http://www.lib.umich.edu/handouts/plagiar.pdf
- The LSA Academic Judiciary Manual of Procedures defines academic integrity: http://www.lsa.umich.edu/academicintegrity/examples.html
- The Sweetland Writing Center's list of resources on writing, http://www.lsa.umich.edu/swc/resources/writingresources/
- The Indiana University website has a couple useful interactive self-instruction exercises on plagiarism. In boththe practice with feedback and the 5-minute quiz, the user is asked to evaluate if each in a series of examples constitutes plagiarism or not. The questions get progressively more difficult and delve deeper into the subject from item to item. http://www.indiana.edu/~istd/
