Instrumentation

Several faculty, graduate students, and postdocs in our department are involved in designing and building a wide variety of instruments that let us take the data needed for our research. These projects are associated with observatories around the world. Some of the telescopes for which we are building instruments include the Magellan Telescopes (Las Campañas Observatory, Chile), the Hiltner and McGraw-Hill telescopes (MDM Observatory, Arizona), the Blanco Telescope ( CTIO, Chile), the CHARA Interferometer (Mt. Wilson Observatory in California), the Keck Telescopes (Keck Observatory, Hawaii), and our own Peach Mountain radio observatory (Dexter, Michigan). The optical and infrared cameras, spectrographs, and interferometers, as well as radio instruments and telescopes are described on our web pages. Please look at the following links for details on both past and ongoing projects.
