The astronomy department and the Student Astronomical Society usually take part in a lecture series every year or two.

There are no public lecture series planned as of August 2010. You may however want to check the SAS page, just in case they have plans that haven't made it to the department site yet.

Past Series

Winter 2009: The Astronomy Theme Semester includes a Distinguished lecture series as well as several other lecture series, and many other events. Learn more at the LSA theme semester website, or on the department events page.

Fall 2007: Scales of the Universe Distinguished Lecture Series Sponsored by the Department of Astronomy, Exhibit Museum of Natural History, Student Astronomical Society, and Michigan Center for Theoretical Physics.

Winter 2007: Astrobiology Sponsored by the Student Astronomical Society and the Society of Biology Students.

Fall 2005: The Invisible Universe: Einstein's Legacy Sponsored by the Department of Astronomy, Exhibit Museum of Natural History, and Student Astronomical Society. This series was part of the century of physics, celebrating 100 years since publication of Einstein's special theory of relativity.
