We have many giving opportunities available for you to make a valuable difference in the department’s realization of its current mission and strategic vision for the future. Highlights of our Current Priorities:
Graduate Student Fellowship Support
Funds are made available to our graduate students to support their both their academic and research activities through the successful defense of their dissertation.
You can support our graduate students by designating your donation to one of the following funds: Baldwin Fellowship, John. G. Kirk Fund, Lawton Fellowship, Hazel M. Losh Fellowship, or the Ruth and Albert Hiltner Fund.
Undergraduate Student Travel Support
Currently we are working to develop a program to provide undergraduate astronomy majors an exciting opportunity to work on summer research projects at our consortium observatories in Chile.
Chair’s Discretionary Fund
At the discretion of the Department Chair, this fund supports a wide variety of departmental activities including faculty research, student support, and outreach efforts. Any undesignated gifts will be placed in this fund.
Astronomy Strategic Fund
Funds can be designated to the strategic fund to be used to promote the strategic initiatives of the department.

How to Donate
- Donate by check directly to the Astronomy Department. Send a check payable to The University of Michigan to:

Please make your designation on the memo line (i.e. Chair’s fund, John G. Kirk Fund).

- Donate by credit card through the Michigan Online Giving webpage. To ensure that your gift goes to the Astronomy department, please designate an Astronomy fund (such as “Astronomy Strategic Fund” or Astronomy Chair’s Fund”) in the Other Area comments box in Step 1.
- Faculty and Staff can give through payroll deductions. Please complete the Payroll Deduction Form and forward it to the Astronomy Main Office in 830 Dennison for processing.
