Maps & Directions

The Department of Astronomy is located on the eighth floor of the Dennison Building. Written directions are given below. Use the following links for an Ann Arbor city map or a central campus map with routes to the department highlighted. The Campus Information Center also has directions to campus as well as maps and directions to local places of interest (including the all important guide to parking.)

If Flying....

1. Fly into Detroit Metro Airport. This is the major Detroit Airport. Avoid Detroit City Airport unless you know what you are doing.

2. Take the Limo or Taxi from the Airport.

3. A Campus Map with the Dennison building and closest parking highlighted can be found at: campus map. We are in the Dennison Bldg on the 8th Floor. The Dept phone is 764-3440 if you encounter difficulties.


If Driving ....

>From Detroit or points East:

1. Take Interstate 94 West.
2. Take US 23 North.
3. Take exit 37B Washtenaw Ave (west).
4. After 1 mile be sure to be in the right lane to stay on Washtenaw.
5. Left on South University (after Hill St).
6. Seek parking near South U. and Forest, or at your hotel.

>From Chicago or West:
1. Take I 94 East
2. Follow steps 2 etc.

>From Toledo:
1. Take US 23 North and follow from step 3 above.

>From Lansing:
1. Take I 96 East to Brighton.
2. Take US 23 South.
3. Take M14 West. ***
4. Exit onto Business 23 (North Main Street) in Ann Arbor.
5. Take North Main South to Huron St. and Turn left.
6. Turn Right on South University (after Geddes St).
7. Seek parking near South U. and Forest, or at your hotel.

*** if you miss the M14 exit...
1. Stay on US 23 south.
2. Take the 1st Washtenaw exit (west).
3. Follow direction set 1 from step 4 on.
